Selection - Selection A brand new re-issue, mastered from the mastertapes, on PTG records is from the Italian group Selection. This album is very rare in the soul and funk music scene. Not much is known of this group except that the sound is similair to other 'Mauro Malavasi' productions such as 'B B and Q band, Change and High Fashion.

Selection released their first single 'Madly' in 1980. The producer duo behind Selection are Claudio and Franco Donato. This duo also produced tracks for Kano, Orlando Johnson, Firefly and others.

Love Committee - Love Committee Love Committee started in 1967 under the name of The Ethics in Philadelphia. The members were Ron Tyson, Joe Freeman, Carl Enlow and Andrew Collins. They worked with percussionist Vince Montana (known form Salsoul Orchestra, and Member of MFSB) and Thom Bell (known from Delphonics and Stylistics) but by lack of success the group split up in 1970.

Michael Jeffries just released a new album called 'Family Affair' on MJM Artist Records. This album is a collaboration with his daughter Aniko and Son Mike.

Michael Jeffries is born in Memphis and raised in San Francisco. You probably know Michael Jeffries as the lead singer of the Tower of Power. This was in the period from 1977-79. He also did the lead vocals on 'Private Passion' and 'Keep on Lovin' Her' for Jeff Lorber's album 'Private Passion' in 86.

The Dramatics - Anytime Anyplace Another great reissue on Vinyl Masterpiece is the album Any Time Any Place by The Dramatics. Original from 1979 on ABC records (AA-1125). On this record the Dramtics are L.J. Reynolds, Ron Banks, Willie Ford, Lenny Mayes and Larry Demps. The album start with two funky tracks 'I just wanna dance with you' and the even heavier 'Bottom Line Woman'. Followed by the great love song 'That's my favorite song' written by Cecil and Shirley Womack and Don Davis, the latter is also the producer on this album. 'I Think about you' sounds early 70s. The last track on side one, at least on vinyl, is 'Get with the band and dance' a heavy uptempo funk track.

80s Album Reissue Switch by Switch on Vinyl Masterpiece

Switch - Switch Bobby DeBarge (keyboards), Greg Williams (keyboards) and Jody Sims (drums) collaborated in the Ohio-based funk band White Heat in the early 70s. After recording an album in 1975 produced by Barry White, the trio left the band, enlisting Philip Ingram (vocals),Bobby and Tommy DeBarge (bass) and Eddie Fluellen (guitar) to form First Class. Jermaine Jackson discovered the band and helped them to secure a contract with Motown Records and produced their first album titled Switch, for which they were renamed to Switch.
