>> | Bobby DeBarge (keyboards), Greg Williams (keyboards) and Jody Sims (drums) collaborated in the Ohio-based funk band White Heat in the early 70s. After recording an album in 1975 produced by Barry White, the trio left the band, enlisting Philip Ingram (vocals),Bobby and Tommy DeBarge (bass) and Eddie Fluellen (guitar) to form First Class. >> | If you have missed the previous three albums by Old School Brother Enois Scroggins then this is the chance to be funkafied. Be Aware you will be funkafied even if you don't want it. This CD consist the best tracks from his previous albums 'One For Funk & Funk For All' 'International-E' and 'Funk-E'. All the tracks have the real eighties sounds like the bass, guitar and of course the typical synthz. Goosebumps. If you want some attention in a traffic jam then you have to put this CD on ;-) > |

Spotlight on for the long awaited debut album by Tokyo Dawn's first lady Amalia! 'Art Slave' is a colorful manifesto for the passion of art, the strength of heart and the need for funk in all stages of life.
This time, Amalia bravely commands her own starship and pays homage to the strong women of soul who catalyzed her ingenuity such as Chaka Khan, Sheila E, Eartha Kitt and Betty Davis. Produced by the Swedish funk extraordinaire Opolopo, 'Art Slave' is sonically and musically influenced by late 80s/early 90s New Jack Swing and Boogie, but definitely sets its own standards. AD Bourke, Atjazz & Son Of Kick deliver the bonus remixes for this release. Check 'Welcome to Me' and 'Luxurious' both are absolute killers! > |

This week I received a promo CD from Donald Sheffey titled 'Between You And I' on Weezie Productions. The CD consist of twelve tracks with mainly a mix of down, mid and up tempo adult contemporary R&B songs. This album starts with a great tune 'Good Times', a smooth track with the well-known 808 hi-hat. The first bars of 'Loving You Today' does sound familiar. This track have a very catching keyboard riff in it above a jazzy rhythm. It could be Maze song with the all the strings. > |

Great Album Re-Issue by a great eighties artist Howard Johnson. You probably know the well known tracks 'Let's Take Time Out' and 'Let This Dream Be Real'. This album is the follow up on 'Keepin' Love New' a Kashif, Paul Laurence production.
Doin' It My Way is completely produced by Mic Murphy and David Frank of The System. This is a must have album.
