Sometimes I'm not proud to be a Dutchman but this is different cake, now I'm proud as a chicken with seven cocks. May I introduce to you an other fellow Dutchman Robert Kramers. Robert Kramers is an outstanding bass player and writer as well producer. Kramers just released his first solo album 'On The Block' on his own independent label 'Robert Kramers'. The album consist of ten tracks which he all produced. The styles on this album are Smooth Jazz, Jazz Funk, Rap, Soul.
Robert was inspired by bands like 'Earth Wind And Fire', 'Commodores', 'George Benson', Motown Bass Legend 'James Jamerson' and an other old school bass hero 'Marcus Miller'. When you hear Robert play he just sounds like Miller and that is a very big compliment and i really mean it. That's why I'm so proud. The album sounds very fresh because the mastering is very good, sounds like an American production.
The opening track 'Back To Now' is a killer instrumental smooth jazz tune. Superb bass play, check the bridge. On top of the bass you hear beautiful strings. It has a nice melody and some great 'seventies/blaxploitation' sounds like the organ and synths. What a track.

The Big Ol' Nasty Getdown is a musical collaboration made up of roughly 110 musicians from 70 touring bands. When they started recording this album there were 35 musicians from 17 bands including George Clinton, members of Parliament Funkadelic, Galactic, Dirty Dozen Brass Band, Derek Trucks Band, Yo Mama's Big Fat Booty Band, and Dumpstaphunk to name a few. The band has now more than tripled in size adding members of Fishbone, Kool and the Gang, Sun Ra Arkestra, Graham Central Station, Mandrill, The Brides of Funkenstein, and several more.

Najee released a brand new album 'Smooth Side Of Soul' on SHANACHIE Records. This ten track album contains some great tracks. Other old school artists such as James Lloyd, Jeff Lorber, Phil Perry collaborated on this album. Check this album.
From Berlin the German Group Funkatized, groove specialists DeeGee and EnBee, released a new digital album 'Electric Chicken Club'. This is the third release from this group and contains 16 track in the syles pop, reggea, acid-(jazz)funk. Track #2 'Discotized' is an instrumental acid-jazz tune with a funky analog bass guitar line with on top an analog synth melodie. The title track 'Electric Chicken Club' is also an instrumental tune with a blend of all kind of styles of music such as jazz, funk, soul. This is not the cause for the reggea tune 'I Love you baby' and the jazz funk song 'Grandpa'. One of my favorite tunes is 'O'Jays Break', I think it's the name ;-). Another acid jazz funk track is 'Champagnernasen'. This instrumental is very funky. The same is true for 'Number Two', 'Quinn C'. The last tracks of this digital album are pure Jazz Funk Tracks. Worth a listen. The album or tunes are available on iTunes, or Amazon.
This album is originally released in 1988 with eleven tracks on CBS records. This funkytowngrooves reissue have some bonus tracks on it. It is a great album with some hits on it like 'in Your Eyes', 'Runner'. Don't compare it with the early eighties sound of James 'd-train' Williams. It's has a typical mid eighties sound made by the Yamaha DX7 Synthesizer. Check also the slow tempo 'Child Of Love' and the more up tempo 'Smile'.

The first track starts with the following Lyric. 'I've Got So much Funk. Let's Share My Funk . From E to U'. Old School master Enois Scroggins did it again with his new CD 'From E to U'. Twenty funk tracks and again an extreme funky album. Where did Enois and his writing partner 'Oliv get the Funk From? Another release with great funky synth bass lines, heavy synthesizer solo's and drum patterns.
The title track 'From E to U' is funk of the first order. This album features a lot of new artists. Carmen is the lead vocalist on the second track 'Take Your Time'. This a more down-tempo tune with very nice vocals of her.
