1- hello mr rodgers it's an honor to you featured on funkylol 94.com.we know your music very well but very little is know about the man behind the music who is bon rock aka kieth rodgers and were did he come from?

Answer: Keith Rodgers was born in Brooklyn, New york. Brooklyn technical high school in 1979 is where it all began battling DJ's and MC's and Crews from all over the New york area. Rappin, Break Dancin and writing Graffitti. In the summer of 1979 my crew went to the Audobon ballroom in Harlem to see DJ Starsky and the L brothers featuring the Grand Wizard Theodore who was 14 years old. Being that we were from brooklyn it was very dangerous for us to be in Harlem at that time because of the Gang wars they made a movie about new york back then its called "The Warriors". Only me, my brother Stan aka Smoke my sister Annette and her friend Mike went no one else would go with us. When we got off the train in Harlem there was at least five hundred teenagers from all of the different gangs. DJ Starsky stopped the music and grabbed the mic He then turned on the drum machine from an old hammond organ and started rappin. He had the floor in the Audobon ballroom bouncing to the beat so hard from the people dancing I thought that the floor was going to collapse. When we got back to brooklyn we told everybody about how they was rockin at the Audobon that night. I would always come to the house partys and the parks all over Brooklyn and Queens and start rocking the Mic like I saw that night in Harlem and they started to call me Audobon Rock or Bon Rock for short.

2-in your show has the radio at the beginning of the 80's, you worked with marley marl, has continue itself A work with him then ?in France marley marl is very known for the title "the symphony "

Answer: In 1981 I was working promoting my record searching rap I worked closely with a New York Radio DJ Named Mr Magic on WHBI 105.9 FM His DJ was Marley Marl. Magic Marley and Fly TY were a crew They wanted to manage me but I declined the offer. Mr Magic helped the force Md's and my good friend named Jalil and Excstacy With Garndmaster D who became Whodini. Marly was working with the Real Roxanne and M.C. Shan.

3-how you have to meet the producers of "cant stop productions"?

Answer: I first met Daniel Belolo in 1980 I auditioned for him in New York and he wanted to sign me but my manager was against it.
In 1981 I made my first rap record called searching rap. I recorded Junior wants to play in 1982 that same year my record label was contacted by cant stop productions for the rights to searching rap as it was becoming very popular in France. That same year Jaques Morali and Henri Belolo of Scorpio Musique
contracted me to make Street Dance and realeased it under the name Break Machine.

4- you knew the golden age of the rap, but on your lp one finds hip hop tracks as well as tracks funk, boogie typical of the years 80' S per which were you influence by composing your album?

Answer: I was very much influenced by the club scene in New York and Paris on my first trip to France in 1982 I was impressed with the culture of the youth in places like Le Bain Douche in fact I was there in the disco when Whodini was performing also on that tour was Fab Five Freddy and B Side along with the Zulu Nation. I was very much excited to see graffitti by Fab Five Freddy in the Eiffel Tower and I fell in love with France. I was scheduled to make a record with Bernard Zekri and Africa Bam Baata but my tour was ending in two days and I would return to New York to record the Bon Rock Album.

5-you know that in France the album of "breack machine"is very to seek, and also that it is this album which is has the birth of a style to name the smurf,it was the first time in France which one listening a sound like that!!! and especially the dance it was new for us,you are come to France to record your albums?

Answer: I am hearing about this style of the smurf for the first time. Street Dance was recorded in New York at the legendary Power Station Studios. The rest of the Break Machine album was recorded in France. My producer in New York stopped all business deals with Cant Stop Productions. Sadly I never returned to France after recording the Break Machine album in 1983.

6- have work yourself with other artists funk in 80's?

ans: I did some work with Jalil of Whodini and the Russ Family also known as "R" Time

7-let us speak a little technical!!!, which was the material to use to compose your musique(synth, linndrum.....or others )i like so much a typically sound of the vintage synthetizer

ans: all of the music was done on a complete Oberheim system which included a drum Machine (the DMX), a Keyboard (the OB8) and the Oberheim control module as this was before the creation of Midi no instruments could communicate with each other only the Oberheim system could communicate with each other.

8- about does years 87-88, when the rap have to explode on the radios with groups like public enemy or run-dmc to speak only about most known, you have to continue in the rap music which one was your projects?

The rap scene in new york had shifted to a new school of artists and was still largely an underground sound. With a few exceptions like those you mentioned there was no major push for rappers.
