This week I received two albums from a man and wife named Carey hailed from Palm Springs, California. One of the albums is from John Carey and is called 'New Beginnings'. The other album that is called 'Melodic' is from Gina Carey, the wife of John. Both albums are released on their own label Gico Music. John is the guitarist for both albums and Gina give act of her vocal presence on both albums. This duo is phenomenal in making quality soul and smooth jazz.

John is on the road for about 25-30 years and has opened for many people. On these trips John learned many different styles, and genres of music.
The sound on John's album the 'New Beginnings' is mainly a smooth jazz sound. Some of the tracks have latin, spanish influences. The first tracks is completly instrumental with nice guitar and piano licks. The next three tracks are of outstanding quality, and with the additional vocals of Gina these songs, 'Out On The Town', 'Feelin Good' and 'Step Show' are masterpieces.
The next three tracks are the latin, spanish influenced tracks. 'The Rain in Spain' contains some sophisticated guitar work. It shows John's ability to play every kind of genre. Pop, Jazz, Latin, John is capable, with help of his guitar, to create piece of tunes.
'Say Yes' sound is in the same trend as track number two till four. The same is true for #9 'True Love' another two favorites on my list. 'A Song For Gina' is an ode to his wifre Gina. Smooth strings, violin and bass with on top a perfectly mixed 'Isley Brothers' guitar riff, not to loud not too soft. And last but not least the Funky track 'Groove To This' a vocal track on a a groovy tune. The only thing I can say is 'Check This Album Out'
