This group was formed in Motown city Detroit. They started as the group 'Sins of Satan' a heavy funk band produced by Al Perkins. You know Al Perkins from the funk formation One Way and Al Hudson and Partners.
On this great funky album, produced by Al Perkins, you hear Oliver Cheatham on lead vocals.
They recorded only one album as Round Trip on MCA records and then switched their name to Oliver. After recording one album under the name Oliver, Oliver Cheatham went for a solo career.

The Dazz band were one of the groups responsible for developing the synth-funk of the 80s. The merge of two Cleveland, Ohio funk, bands Bell Telefunk and Brain Tree. During the years there were several line-up changes in the group. The main members were still , Bobby Harris, and Pierre DeMudd during the Dazz band years. The groups name was originally called Kinsman Dazz after the Kinsman Grill - a club owned by Bobby's father. Dazz means danceable jazz.

Isley Brother, Chris Jasper, just released his brand new CD Inspired: By Love, By Life, By The Spirit. Chris wrote, produced, arranged, played all the instruments for this album. One Way, from Detroit, became consistent mid-level hit makers on the R&B charts during the 70s and 80s. In 1976 Al hudson formed the soul partners with four other Detroit musicians, Kevin Mccord (bassist), Cortez Harris (guitarist), Jack Hall (pianist) and Theodore Dutley jr (drummer). The released in 1977 their debut elpee 'Especially for you'. Under the name Al Hudson and the Partners they released in 1979 the track 'You Can Do it' with lead vocalist Alicia Myers.
Jazz, R&B and funk pioneer Donald Byrd has died at the age of 80. Donald Byrd was born in Detroit, Michigan, U.S.A. on 9 December, 1932. He was a solo artist as well a bandleader.
