Jerry Knight was born in 1955 in Los Angeles, California. Jerry Knight's first appearance was as R&B singer and Bassist in the group Raydio, lead by guitarist, producer and writer Ray Parker Jr.. After a few years playing in Raydio Knight left the group to start his solo career. Knight subsequently released three albums on A&M records called 'Jerry Knight', 'Perfect Fit' and 'Love's on your side' in the years 1980 till 1982. In that period he charted twice on the Billboard Soul Chart with the songs 'Overnight Sensation #18' and 'Perfect Fit #37'. Mark Berbiers

Knight's last album, from march 1983, 'Love's on your side' contains eight tracks. It was not his best album but nowadays it's a classic. This album consists of a mix of ballads and mid-tempo boogie tunes. Four of these tunes are produced by Leon Haywood and the other four by Jerry himself. The boogie tunes are 'She's got to be (a Dancer)', 'i'm down for that', 'Nothing can hold us back', 'Fire' and last but not least 'Do it All for you'.
