THE FILTHY SIX
The Filthy Six are the most exciting, authentic Soul Jazz outfit in the UK today and have established themselves as one of the most electric live acts around. Their soaring horns, blistering guitar and gut-wrenching organ are fuelled by the hardest grooving rhythm section this side of the Atlantic, producing a hip-shakingly powerful mixture of jazz, funk and boogaloo totally in keeping with the finest traditions of the Blue Note sound. With a heavier nod to their jazz heroes than most bands on the International Funk scene these instrumental groove merchants fuse boundless energy and incredible musicianship to create tight, funky music that moves the mind, body and soul whilst simultaneously tearing the roof off every venue they play!
THE GROOVE INITIATIVE
The Groove Initiative is a collaboration of the UK’s finest musicians and singers. The band, formed in 2013 specialise in Funk, Soul, Dance, House and Break Beats, performed Live to give listeners a thrilling listening experience.
With members who have supported artists worldwide such as Nile Rogers, Jamiroqui, N-Dubz, Bassment Jaxx, Maceo Parker, Eric Clapton, Jeff Beck and Paolo Nuttini to name a few, the Groove Initiative are credited with giving an eclectic mix of music that captivates an audience at every show.
SIR FUNK
Sir Funk – fresh from his Saturday headline slot on the Heaven Stage -
a joyous, funked up, hundred miles an hour, pleasure driven explosion of energy that only fools and the foolish would miss. Expect to get sweaty, expect to shake and to do your thang! If there is a Funky Mother ship landing on Bloomsbury in July 2014 – Sir Funk would be at the helm! Never mind that fella from Corrie!!! - A must see!
And expect appearances from some very special guests
DOM SERVINI (WAH WAH 45s)
Dom Servini is one of the main players and a stalwart of the eclectic music scene in London. Having started DJing in the early ‘90s in Brighton with the legendary Snowboy, he then moved back to the capital and took it by storm, starting a Sunday afternoon session at the Jazz Cafe, a residency at the Blue Note, and then his own club venture, Mouseorgan, which ran for 8 years. Dom then joined the Wah Wah DJ crew at The Jazz Café, and went on to become part of their record label project in 2001 – a label he now runs with Wah Wah artist Adam Scrimshire and Hospital Records boss Chris Goss.
