I Love This Album This Is When I Got To Learn About Melba Moores Music.....i Bought Imoport Here In Holland And Its My Old Time Favo Album Always

Melba Moore Struck Her Biggest Commercial Success With Her 1983 Offering, "The Other Side Of The Rainbow". In The Early 80's, Artist/producer Kashif Along With Paul Lawrence Jones III Managed To Create A Formidable Production Style. This Led To Gold And Platinum Success For Many Of The Artists That They Worked With During This Time. "The Other Side Of The Rainbow" Starts Out Big With The Smokin', "Love's Comin' At Ya'" A Funky Dance Groove Heavy On Bass With Inspired Vocals By Ms.Moore. This Is Followed By "Underlove" Another Tight Groove With Background Vocals By Kashif And Lilo Thomas. The Third Track Is Yet Another Slammin' Dance Track, "Mind Up Tonight" Which Set The Dance Floor On Fire When Originally Released. "Knack For Me" Is Decent, But Pales In Comparison To The Three Excellent Tracks That Preceed It. The Rest Of The Albums Tracks Are Left In The Hands Of Other Producers And Unfortunately That's When The Magic Ends. The Next Three Tracks Sound Like Filler Next To The Kashif Produced Songs And The Only One To Leave An Impact Would Be The Closing Title Track, "The Other Side Of The Rainbow". With This Song Melba Moore Shows Off Her Magnetic Range And Your Reminded That This Women Did Win A Tony Award For Her Performance In "Purlie". This Song Actually Sounds As If It Was Written For A Major Stage Production And Ms. Moore Belts With Gusto, Even Sustaining A Note For What Seems Like Forever (wow). "The Other Side Of The Rainbow" Might Be An Uneven Affair, But The Songs That Work, Do So On A Grand Scale. A Must Own For Any Melba Moore Fan Or Any Lover Of 80's R&b Dance Music.
