Radio 6 will be black for one week

Van 8 tot en met 12 maart presenteert Radio6 ‘De Zwarte Lijst’. Een week lang kleurt de zender ‘gitzwart’ met de favoriete soul- en jazzplaten van de luisteraars. Vanaf nu kun je stemmen op je favoriete platen aan de hand van een keuzelijst die op radio6.nl staat. Eigen suggesties kunnen ook aan de zwarte lijst worden toegevoegd. Je maakt tevens kans op 'Zwarte Dozen' met classic albums door je stem het best te motiveren.

From 8 till 12 march the dutch national radio station Radio6 presents the 'The Black List'. During this week you can vote for your favourite soul en jazz records. You can pick from a list that's available or you can bring your own soul and Jazz suggestions. You can win a 'Black Box' with classic soul albums by motivating your vote. You can listen here to Radio 6.

I just wanted to let you know I have found a large auction of modern soul, boogie, 80's funk and disco LP's on eBay. There are over 200 LP's including lots of early 80's major label classics that are surprising tough to find and a few private press obscurities. Many promo copies and most in really nice condition. On Saturday 28th December rising US soulstress Kenya Soulsinger will be in Soul Brother Records store in Putney London between 3.30-4.30pm signing copies of her new album ‘Love You to life’ , I hope that you can join us in meeting her. Timex Social Club, the group that brought you the #1 summer time jam of 1986 is back on the scene!

Formed in Berkeley, California, the group climbed the U.S. Billboard dance charts with their runaway smash hit "Rumors." Today, two of the original members, Marcus Thompson and Michael Marshall, have reunited and are back performing their hits.

Their album, Vicious Rumors, was released in late 1986 and included "Thinkin' About Ya" and "Mixed-Up World". Both songs made the Billboard U.S. R&B top 20.

Over the years, Timex Social Club's music has been used by such artists as P. Diddy, Jessica Simpson, Master P, Jennifer (J-Lo) Lopez, Club Nouveau and The Luniz. Most recently, the Roots performed a rendition of their hit "Rumors" on Jimmy Fallon's new late night talk show.

Timex Social Club's latest projects include a release from lead singer Michael Marshall - Soul of the Bay - which merges Michael's bright vocals with catchy compositions to create yet another disc full of memorable tunes. Standout tracks such as "Who Is He" and "Chemistry" are already certified iTunes favorites.
