Today, 24 years ago in 1986, the album A Lot Of Love by Melba Moore debuted on the billboard Top R&B Albums Chart. It reached #7 and was on the chart for a total of 59 weeks.
What a very solid, consistent release from Ms. Moore ? one that will do wonders not only for her reputation but producer Kashif's also.
Packed full of excellent dancers like the Chaka-esque "There I Go Falling In Love Again", the mellow, almost Nick Martinelli groove "It's Been A Long Time", the catchy (poppy?) "You Trip Me Out" and, of course, the excellent leader singer.
However, perhaps the best work is done on here in the ballad department with a Freddy Jackson duet on "A Little Bit More" running only second to "I'm Not Gonna Let You Go" and "When We Touch".
Tip top form for the Hush lady and the sort of new record the 'old guard' of lady soul should be making in the wake of the Meli'sa's and Anita's of this world.
